A brief introduction of the Children's natural display in Changzhou
The Children's Natural Museum in Changzhou, founded in December of 1995, is the unique Children's Natural Museum in Jiangsu Province. Currently it possesses more than 2,000 species and 4,000 pieces of various natural collections, among which there were 103 kinds and 158 pieces of wild animal and plant specimens that are national first-class and second-class protective.
    "The Fantastic Nature and The Beautiful Home" is not only a large-scale natural display of popular science, focusing on the theme, mainly built by the new Changzhou Museum, but also a characteristic highlight to attract vast numbers of children audience for the Children’s Natural Museum. The area of the exhibition hall is more than 1,000 square meters, with 421 kinds and 645 pieces of various specimens on display. Main contents of the display are divided into four parts, as follows: "The story of the evolution of earth life," “the diverse and beautiful nature”,” the various and colorful animal world", "the magnificent homeland”. Through the human－based design and the modern display means, we make all the static specimens and their life environments fused perfectly, make the whole hall full of vigor and the greatest delight. We set up a number of interactive projects in the exhibition to increase children's interest in learning and exploration.
    After entering the door of the exhibition hall, we can see a lobby with the little area. The subtlety of the lobby is its top. The hemispherical celestial body is hanging on the top that is like a welkin, and the special light makes it "star light twinkling", which is the symbol of that the earth we are living is not alone in the boundless universe.
    Behind the lobby, we go further to the "time tunnel”, by this way, the hardship and inflection evolutionary process of earth life is deduced. On one side of the tunnel in a niche the representative fossil specimens in various stages, such as, trilobites, dinosaurs eggs, Confuciusornis etc. , are displayed respectively .
    Out of the time tunnel, the audience will enter "the diverse and beautiful nature". The variety of unique and interesting wild animals are combined in order and disorder, coupled the rendering way given by the high-tech video and audio, then, a complex and diverse, vibrant natural screen is showed in front of millions of viewers.
    Many wild animals at home and abroad are displayed by the unit form in the part of "Various sorts of animal world". Such as: A large number of rare insect specimens in the world are mainly displayed in the part of "Insect World" with the traditional means，, and the process of insect activity and metamorphosis development of butterflies was demonstrated by the modern means such as electric models and technology of computer aided simulation so that the audience can have the real feelings to the magnificent insect world. The various mammal specimens are displayed in the part of "Mammals" in the form of an open scene. We make the abstract concept tree as the main part that is concise and sprightly for the landscape making in order to highlight the natural forms of these specimens. The beautiful mountain rare birds are displayed in the part of "The Bird kingdom," and there are little flowers, green plants and a variety of colorfully rare birds before the light ink painting background.
    Through the interactive exhibition, viewers will enter another unit - the "the beautiful homeland", which mostly involves the three aspects such as marine biology, wetlands and hilly beach. In the three continuously natural landscapes, the audience feel attractive to a few "major maritime scenes." Under the action of Special light, "A dime of Oceans " seems so deep and quiet. The corals and starfishes are so quietly lying on the seabed, while finback whales and Chinese sturgeon etc. are swimming freely, and a huge shark is exposing its sharp teeth to wait a chance for predation.
    Passing by the "The large maritime scenes", the audience will enter a "Beach wetland". Wetland landscape is mainly made by the model of the coastal wetlands of Yancheng in our province, with high reeds, turbulent water and flourish water-plants, while the pre David deer are foraging leisurely in the reed, the red-crowned crane with its slim legs walking in shallow water as well as the flock of geese and ducks are playing and enjoying themselves in the water. It seems that everything is so natural and harmonious.
    The landscape of low mountain and hills is made by copying the habitats of Yili mountain, taking realism as the main mean in respect of approaches of landscaping. with the dense vegetation, rough rocks as well as the common animals in this areas: the wolves, foxes, wild boars, etc. that are appearing in the mountain forest from time to time. Meanwhile, the virtual pets on the distant background are in the running jump, created by using the multimedia projection technology, which not only makes up for the shortcomings of the geostationary specimens, but also make the mountain scene more substantial and full of vigor.
